1. Close all doors
2. Insert key into ignition
3. Hold down the power UNLOCK button on the driver’s door panel, continue to hold down
until instructed to release in step 9. ![]()
4. Perform steps 5 through 8 in a fairly rapid succession.
5. Turn the ignition to the ON position (as far as you can go without starting the engine.)
6. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
7. Turn the ignition to the ON position (as far as you can go without starting the engine.)

9. Release the power UNLOCK button on the door panel. The vehicle should respond by
door locks locking and unlocking automatically. (If locks do not cycle after you let go, not before you let go of the unlock button, then the vehicle has not entered programming mode and you must start procedure over. Remove key from ignition, open drivers door and return to step 1 ). If the locks do cycle automatically then proceed to step 10.
10. Hold down the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the remote until the doors lock and
unlock. This may take up to 30 seconds.
11. Repeat step 10 NOW for each additional remote. (Including any existing remotes).
12. Turn the ignition to the ON position to exit the programming mode.
13. Test remote(s).
2007-2010 Chevrolet Avalanche Car Key Fob and Remote Programming Instructions:
Use this Procedure for Vehicles with
Driver Information Center Buttons
This information is in your Owners Manual in the
Drivers Information Center Section.
1. Insert Key and turn to ON position so you can access Driver Information Center
2. Press the vehicle information button until

3. Press the set/reset button until
REMOTE KEY LEARNING ACTIVE displays
4. Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the keyless remote at the same
time for approximatley 15 seconds. A chime will sound indicating that the remote is programmed.
5. To program additional remotes at this time repeat step 4.
This vehicle can have a maximum of eight remotes programmed.
6. To exit programming mode turn key off and remove key.
Test remote(s).
Use this Procedure for Vehicles without
Drivers Information Center Buttons
To access this display, the vehicle must be in Park (P) with key in the on position (as far
as you can go without cranking engine)
1. Press the trip odometer reset stem until RELEARN REMOTE KEY displays.
2. Press and hold the trip odometer reset stem for three seconds.
The message REMOTE KEY LEARNING ACTIVE will display
3. Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the first keyless remote at the same
time for approximately 15 seconds. A chime will sound indicating that the remote is programmed.

The Chevrolet Avalanche is a four-door, five or six passenger sport utility truck sharing GM’s long-wheelbase chassis used on the Chevrolet Suburban and Cadillac Escalade EXT. The keyless entry remote key fob option was available on every model produced from 2001 to its end in 2013. The Chevrolet Avalanche was on-board programmable until 2010, meaning a person could program the keyless entry remote key fob with no special equipment other than the keyless entry remote key fob programming instructions. Although the Chevrolet Avalanche is no longer being produced, we will still continue provide the keyless entry remote key fob programming instructions.

A keyless entry remotes makes our lives easier by locking and unlocking the Silverado from up to 40 feet away. If you've purchased an additional remote, also known as a fob, you'll need to program it to sync with your truck.
Whether you own a 2001 or a 2010, follow these 7 easy steps and you'll have your Silverado remote programmed in five minutes.
If Your Silverado Doesn't Have a Vehicle Information Center (pre-2007)
Step 1: Sit in the vehicle with all the doors closed and unlocked. Insert the key into the ignition. Do not turn the key until directed.
Step 2: Press and hold the Unlock button on the driver's side door. You will hear the locks make two clunking noises, indicating they have completed an unlock/lock cycle. Continue to hold down the Unlock button.
Step 3: While holding down the Unlock button, turn the key to the accessory power position then back to the off position. Repeat turning the key from the accessory power position to the off position for a total of two cycles.
Step 4: Release the Unlock button. Your Silverado will automatically cycle the locks as it did in Step 2.
Step 5: Simultaneously hold down the Lock and Unlock buttons on your fob for 15 seconds.
Step 6: Program any additional remotes for repeating Step 6 for each remote. Up to four remotes can be programmed.
Step 7: Exit programming mode by starting your Silverado. Turn off the vehicle and test your remotes.
If Your 2007-2010 Silverado Has a VIC - Vehicle Information Center
Step 1: Sit in the vehicle with all the doors closed and unlocked. Start your Silverado and leave it in Park.
Step 2: Press and hold the Vehicle Information button, marked by an image of a car and the letter 'i', until the display reads 'Press V to Relearn Remote Key'.
Step 3: Press the Set/Reset button until 'Remote Key Learning Active' appears.
Step 4: Simultaneously press and hold the Lock and Unlock buttons for 15 seconds. A chime will sound indicating the remote has been successfully programmed.
Step 5: Program additional remotes by repeating Step 4 for each fob.
Step 6: Exit programming mode by turning off the vehicle and removing the key.
Step 7: Test your remote(s).
If Your 2007-2010 Silverado Doesn't Have a VIC - Vehicle Information System
Step 1: Sit in the vehicle with all the doors closed and unlocked. Turn the key to Accessory Power position.
Step 2: Press the trip odometer meter reset stem repeatedly until you see 'Relearn Remote Key'.
Step 3: Press and hold the trip odometer meter stem for three seconds. The display will read 'Key Learning Active'.
Step 4: Simultaneously press and hold the Lock and Unlock buttons for 15 seconds. A chime will sound indicating the remote has been successfully programmed.
Step 5: Program additional remotes by repeating Step 4 for each fob.
Step 6: Exit programming mode by turning off the vehicle and removing the key.
Step 7: Test your remote(s).
